What is Horse Powered Readingā®?
Using Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAāGALA) model of Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) as the foundation. Horse Powered Reading® (HPR) integrates social-emotional learning with academies.
Students see and experience reading with their entire mind, body and emotions by creating aā metaphor for the skills involved in reading.
Often social-emotional issues such as ADHD, Dyslexia, anxiety, depression and other mental concerns get in the way of students learning. Through HPR students can break those challenges which gives them a change to learn, it can reinforce reading, math and other academies at school.
HPR is a form of experiential learning which focuses on the learning process for the student. This gives the student a change to make disācoveries and experiment with knowledge firsthand. This gives the student a change to reflect on what they experience and provides an opportunity to create new patterns of learning in a supported environment
Is Horse Powered Reading® effective?
Our resāearch has discovered that it only takes a few key reading skills combines with motivation, self-efficacy/confidence, and persistence, all of which are taught by the horses, to create an exponential growth in learning.
An added benefit is that Horse Powered Reading® appears to continue enchanting reading skills over time as students improved social-emotional skills interact with academics at school.
